JUDGE M. BROOKE MURDOCK was appointed an associate judge of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City by Governor Parris N. Glendening in September, 1997. She was elected to a full term in November, 1998. Prior to taking the bench, she practiced law in Baltimore and was a principal in the law firm of Ferguson, Schetelich, Heffernan & Murdock. For four years, she served as the petit jury judge, the Bench liaison to the Jury Commissioner’s Office.

The judge is a graduate of the University of Delaware, where she received a B.A. in American Studies (1972), the University of Baltimore School of Law, where she received a J.D. in 1977, and attended the Alliance Franchise in Paris, France (1982-1983). Judge Murdock is a member of the Judiciary’s Criminal Benchbook Committee, Maryland Circuit Judges Associations Sub Committee on Judicial Disabilities, Jury Revisions Subcommittee, and the Civil Law and Procedure Committee. She served as President of the Maryland Chapter of the National Association of Women Judges (2003-2004), and was one of the three representatives from Baltimore City to the Circuit Court Judges Association (1998-2002).

Judge Murdock currently sits on the Board of Directors for Baltimore Clayworks (a ceramic Arts organization), Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Maryland, and the Alumni Advisory Board of the University of Baltimore School of Law. She has been recognized for her leadership by being selected as one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women in 1997, 1999, and 2001.
